CIS Jr. Station Directions

Get ready to explore your interests and see careers that match up with things you like to do!

You'll want to open TWO pages for this activity:

DIRECTIONS FOR THIS STATION AND USING CIS
1. Open CIS Junior - http://www.ides.illinois.gov/page.aspx?item=1119
2. Click on CIS Junior

3. A new window will open. Login using Option One
Username: hmsd70
Password: hmsd70
Click Login

4. Choose the Career Cluster Inventory

5. Read the directions about the Career Cluster Inventory.
Click on "Rate the Activities"

6. Take the inventory
7. After you finish the inventory, open the online worksheet and fill it in with your results.
As you click on the names of the career clusters, you'll get more information about possible jobs, education requirements, and pay for jobs within that cluster.
8. If you need to go back to Cluster results OR if you are ready to move on to the reality check, look for the box in the upper right of your screen. Return to gets you back. Menu shows you options.

CIS PART II Reality Check - find out how much money will you need to make to support yourself in the lifestyle you want.
8. Click on Reality Check.
9. Watch the Reality Check video.
10. Click on the button, Get a Reality Check.
11. Choose a region of Illinois. If you are interested in living in the Libertyville area choose Waukegan. If you want to live in the city, choose Chicago.
12. Answer the questions and use the arrows to navigate through reality check.





College Activity Station Directions

During this station you'll get to explore different college possibilities.
Once you've completed the College Matchmaker, you can start to think about possible colleges you might be interested in attending that match up with your career ideas.

You'll need to open two things for this station:

DIRECTIONS FOR THIS STATION
1. Click on this link
2. Go through the questions about what you are looking for in a college. Click on the Begin Exploring button.
3. The site will take you through a series of questions about what you are looking for in a college. There are also brief videos you can watch.
4. Once you've completed the questions, you'll see a list of colleges that meet your criteria.
5. EXPLORE the possible colleges!
6. Complete the College Sign for yourself
  1. Open the Template College Sign doc
  2. Choose three colleges that you might like to apply to attend
  3. Record the name of the school and paste in its logo/mascot
  4. Answer the questions about why you choose that school and how it fits with your future career
  5. Save the sign and print it
  6. Bring this sign to studio one during 10th period
